Born 1987 in Lund Sweden but raised in Tucson Arizona, Andrew Collberg has been active since 2006 working with numerous artists of different styles as well as releasing 7 solo albums to date. He spent his formative musical years in Tucson’s DIY music community where he performed with numerous local bands and musicians, many of whom remain collaborators today.
Leaving the desert in 2016 he now resides in Cologne, Germany and has steadily over time become an active part of the Cologne music scene working with local musicians and releasing his music through Cologne/ Berlin based record label Papercup Records. Hi Hopes will be his fourth release with Papercup. Collberg’s first album for Papercup, 1986, was conceived as a soundtrack to a non-existent film. The music later became the score for Fabian Podeszwa’s short film Say Wuff, which received the Best Short Film award at the 2024 Sitges Film Festival in Spain. Popcorn Graveyard, Collberg's last release was a sort of precursor to Hi Hopes; a mixed bag of genres all laced with poignant and comical irony including such songs as “Grey Grey Germany”.
Alongside his solo work, Collberg has composed music for film, television, radio, and podcast productions, including contributions to the series Lu von Loser and Rebekka Endler’s podcast Feminist Shelf Control.
During multiple music teaching residencies in Greenland, Collberg developed a close friendship and working relationship with Danish producer and musician Mikkel Mohr (Soho Rezanejad, First Hate). Their collaboration has since become central to Collberg’s recent work, resulting in his last three albums: A Modern Act (2022), Popcorn Graveyard (2024), and Hi Hopes (2026).
The multi-instrumentalist has worked, recorded & toured with artists such as Howe Gelb (Giant Sand), Molly Burch, Golden Boots, Modern Nature, Nive Nielsen, Orkesta Mendoza, Star Parks, Marek Johnson amongst others.

STADTREVUE
ROSY OVERDRIVE
“The slick orchestrations of “Temporary Cruise” and “Sympathy” feels like Papercuts territory….. the jaunty but offbeat country rock “Spiritual Cult Love Story”, that sounds the most like the work of a full band (and is also the moment on Popcorn Graveyard where Collberg really establishes himself as a desert weirdo in the vein of Giant Sand and Golden Boots).”
